Dragon Slippers
I don't do a lot of sewing, but I like to try and make one gift each year for the boys. I saw this cute tutorial for fleece Dragon Slippers and it didn't look too difficult. She had great step-by-step instructions for creating your own pattern based on your child's foot size. I spent two evenings drawing, measuring, calculating & cutting, then two evenings sewing - not bad at all.
I wanted to watch some nice Christmas movies while working, so this was my sewing table for the evening. I think the Sesame Street characters inspired my sewing in some way!
I mostly followed her tutorial, with a few slight changes. She used jumbo ric-rac for the spines on the dragon. I didn't have any, so I cut some extra fleece - I like it better that way. I skipped the eyes on the dragons - I may add them later, but they're kind of cute like this (and I don't want to hand-embroider 8 slippers). I didn't put any elastic in the smallest slipper because it was too small and lumpy to sew the casing. Hopefully it'll stay on. I'll have to post some pictures of the slippers being modeled. The boys have been asking me to buy them slippers, so I think they'll enjoy these.
Here's the tutorial.
They are so cute! Can't wait to see them for real!
