Superhero Accessories #3: Captain America's Shield

So this post ended up being a bit of a cheat. I looked on Pinterest, and saw some really great ideas for a Captain America shield, using either  a Frisbee or a Flying Saucer sled.  I kind of looked into each of these ideas, but I didn't want to spend much money.  I figured I'd have to buy the Frisbee (ours were all chewed by our dog) and then some paint and spray sealant.  It would cost me $5-10, and I didn't want to spend much on it.

I happened to be in our local second hand store and saw a great Captain America shield for just $2!  It was much sturdier than what I would have made, and ended up being cheaper.  So I bought it!
Our Captain America was quite thrilled with it (and even figured out that it could shoot a little white disc from it!).

I'll link to the other ideas, in case you're wondering.  They were great tutorials, and would have turned out wonderfully.

Here's the great Frisbee one, from A Girl and a Glue Gun.

This from Storm the Castle one uses one of those Flying Saucer sleds.  It might be a little big for little kids, but it looks great!

For our last post: Batman's mask (and some wrist cuffs, if I'm feeling inspired!).

    1. Hi Amanda! I wouldn't have known about Captain America, if I didn't have four little boys. :) He's very American - red, white & blue, with a great shield!

    1. Thanks, Tracy - it's been fun! Having 4 boys, we don't do as much dress-up as little girls do. So this Superhero thing is going over really well!
