MR - As our four boys move from the infant/toddler stage to the busy-young-boys stage, Lego has become a favourite pastime. But we've always had a problem about where to play with it and how to store it. I was getting Lego all over the house - stepping on it and vacuuming it up.
My husband mentioned that they had a Lego board while growing up - just a large board with a lip around it to build/play on. He thought his dad might be able to make one to fit under our couch. He gave the measurements to his dad, and asked for one with a lip around it and handles to pull it out. What we got was this:
It's perfect!
We can easily seat all four boys around the board. We can store most of our lego on it, pull it out to play and build, then push it back in for quick and easy cleanup. We still have Lego pieces around the house, but the kids are quick to find the pieces and bring them to the board. We get much more use from the lego, now that it is so easily accessible.
The boys still have their special Lego sets in their bedroom (the big transport truck, or garbage truck, or lighthouse sets) but our basic Lego is all stored here now. It's also very easy to search through the board for a specific type of lego piece.

Great idea, Marya (& Eric). I may have to borrow that one from you (:
ReplyDeleteThe staff at storage facility works fine and I'm always in and out in less than 10 minutes. This saved time is a big bonus considering my always tight schedule.
