A Month of Less: Digital Photo Organizing

I have to admit that I'm not great about organizing and backing up my photos.  They often sit on my computer in whatever place they get saved on, until I have hundreds of little files of pictures.  So what I started doing about a year ago was to create 4 folders for each year.  Jan-Mar., Apr-Jun, Jul-Sept., and Oct-Dec.  This simple system allowed me to go through a few times a year and move pictures from the random folders into the correct months, with very little finicky sorting.

And as for saving them elsewhere or backing them up, I'm not too concerned, since most of our family pictures get posted on our blog, so I can access those pictures if I need to.

So after about 30 minutes of clicking, cutting, & pasting, I am now completely caught up and organized with my pictures.

  1. That's a great idea! I, too, have tons of photos that are here and there. Argghh. Too many photos, not enough time to organize them. (Well, never too many photos, really. The more the merrier.) Thanks you for your Pinspiring Post. :)

  3. Always store picture files in as many back-up media as much as possible. The key lesson here is to fend off complacency. Not only as a moral but as a principle.
